5. Pole Assignment and Stabilization by State Feedback

Advanced Numerical Methods provides several numerically viable algorithms for pole assignment and feedback stabilization problems. The new algorithms are available through the options of the same function StateFeedbackGains, described in Section 9.1 of Control System Professional. Additionally, the function StateFeedbackGains is extended to solve constrained feedback stabilization problems, which are concerned with finding feedback matrices such that the closed-loop system meets design constraints on the settling time, the minimal damping ratio, and other parameters. StateFeedbackGains is further extended to solve the partial pole assignment problem, that is, to assign only those eigenvalues that do not satisfy the design requirements (henceforth called "bad" eigenvalues), leaving the others unchanged; and to solve the feedback stabilization problem using Lyapunov equations.
