A7.3 Simple Moving Systems
The Simple Harmonic Motion notebook is the simplest notebook in this section. It demonstrates simple harmonic motion using an animation containing a ball and an extensible spring.
The Newton's Cradle notebook builds a complete cradle with spheres, springs, and support structure. The motion of the spheres is modeled using the simple harmonic angular displacement approximation.
The Solar System notebook creates three spheres that represent the Sun, Earth, and Moon. When the TransformationMatrix option is active, the Moon is rotated around the Earth, which, in turn, rotates about the Sun.
The Worm Gear notebook creates a worm gear and a simple bevel gear. The animation demonstrates the large mechanical advantage of using a worm gear.
