How to create a new matrix

Select Creation RightTriangle Paste Matrix from the Lists & Matrices menu. Type the appropriate values in the Rows: and Columns: fields and click Paste.
Suppose you typed 3 in both the Rows: and Columns: fields.

How to fill in placeholders

Suppose the entry in the top-left position is selected.
Type an entry and then select the next placeholder by pressing the Tab key; repeat. (You can select placeholders in the opposite direction by holding down the Shift key and pressing Tab.)

Hold down the Control key and press the space bar to move out of the grid.

Use the right arrow key to move the insertion point out of the matrix.

How to add a new column

Place the insertion point to the right of any entry; here the insertion point is to the right of the entry at the top left.

Hold down the Control key and type a comma. A column of placeholders will appear, with the top one selected.

How to add a new row

Place the insertion point to the right of any entry; here the insertion point is to the right of the entry at the top-left.

Hold down the Control key and press Enter. A row of placeholders will appear, with the first one selected.
