A.8.5 File Organization after Installation
Typical names for the main Mathematica folder.
Within the main Mathematica folder, files are arranged in a way that mirrors their organization on the CD-ROM.
The name of the directory corresponding to the main Mathematica folder is given in the kernel by $TopDirectory.
System Files
System files are typically stored in the SystemFiles subdirectory of the main Mathematica folder. The installation procedure will copy the files needed for your particular setup.

Some resource directories may contain files specific to particular languages or computing environments. These files are given in subdirectories such as Japanese/Windows.
