  • $MachinePrecision gives the number of decimal digits of precision used for machine-precision numbers.
  • A typical value of $MachinePrecision is 16.
  • $MachinePrecision gives the default precision assumed for approximate real numbers where few explicit digits are entered.
  • $MachinePrecision is the default precision used by N and other numerical functions.
