Variance

FilledSmallSquare Variance[list] gives the statistical variance of the elements in list.

FilledSmallSquare Variance[list] gives the unbiased estimate of variance.

FilledSmallSquare Variance[list] is equivalent to Total[(list-Mean[list])^2]/(Length[list]-1).

FilledSmallSquare Variance handles both numerical and symbolic data.

FilledSmallSquare Variance[, , ... , , , ... , ... ] gives Variance[, , ... ], Variance[, , ... ].

FilledSmallSquare Variance works with SparseArray objects.

FilledSmallSquare See Section 1.6.7, Section 3.2.14 and Section 3.8.1.

FilledSmallSquare See also: StandardDeviation, Mean, Quantile.

FilledSmallSquare Related packages: Statistics`DescriptiveStatistics`, Statistics`MultiDescriptiveStatistics`.

FilledSmallSquare New in Version 5.0.
