$ReleaseNumber

$ReleaseNumber is an integer which gives the current Mathematica kernel release number, and increases in successive releases.

Each released revision of the Mathematica kernel for any particular computer system is assigned a new release number.

The same source code may yield releases with different numbers on different computer systems.
