$ReleaseNumber

$ReleaseNumber
is an integer which gives the current Mathematica kernel release number, and increases in successive releases.

Each released revision of the Mathematica kernel for any particular computer system is assigned a version number, followed by a release number.

The same source code may yield releases with different numbers on different computer systems.

In a typical full version number, such as 1.0.3, the last integer is the release number.
