ShowSpecialCharacters

ShowSpecialCharacters
is an option for Style and Cell which specifies whether to replace \[Name], \:nnnn, etc. by explicit special characters.
  • With ShowSpecialCharacters->False special characters are always displayed by name when possible.
  • ShowSpecialCharacters is more often set at the level of styles or notebooks than at the level of individual cells.
Display special characters as the rendered characters, or by name:
