Mathematica Import/Export Format


Sequence of unsigned 16-bit integers.
Raw binary format.
Equivalent to the Byte format.
  • Import can read any file as a sequence of unsigned 16-bit integers.
  • Export writes a list of integers in the range (0,2^(16)-1) to a binary file.
  • Import["file", "UnsignedInteger16"] imports any file, returning a packed array of integers in the range (0,2^(16)-1).
  • Export["file", list, "UnsignedInteger16"] exports a list of integers in the range (0,2^(16)-1) to file.
  • Import["file", {"UnsignedInteger16", elem}] or Import["file", elem ] imports the specified element from file.
  • Import["file", {"UnsignedInteger16", {elem1, elem2, ...}}] imports multiple elements.

  • Data representation element:

  • Import["file", {"UnsignedInteger16", n}] gives the n^(th) 16-bit integer from file.
  • Trailing bytes are ignored if the size of the imported file is not a multiple of the data size.
