Direction

Direction
is an option for Limit that specifies the direction in which the limit is taken.
  • Direction->1 takes variables to approach their limits by increasing from smaller values.
  • Direction->-1 takes variables to approach their limits by decreasing from larger values.
  • The default setting is Direction->Automatic, which determines the direction from assumptions that have been given, using Direction->-1 as the default. For limit points at infinity, the direction is determined from the direction of the infinity.
  • Direction->z specifies that limits should be taken in the direction corresponding to the complex number z.
