GeoDestination

GeoDestination[pos, {d, Alpha}]
gives the geodetic position reached by going distance d in azimuthal direction Alpha from pos.
  • The distance d is given in meters; the azimuthal direction Alpha is the angle from true north measured in degrees.
  • GeoDestination[pos, ...] finds the destination on the reference ellipsoid associated with the datum for pos. Heights are ignored.
  • GeoDestination[{lat, long}, ...] gives the latitude-longitude destination for the default reference ellipsoid.
This computes the position obtained by moving 1000 meters north from a starting position:
