As of Version 10, most of the functionality of the Combinatorica package is built into the Wolfram System. »
ChromaticNumber[g]
gives the chromatic number of the graph, which is the fewest number of colors necessary to color the graph.

- To use ChromaticNumber, you first need to load the Combinatorica Package using Needs["Combinatorica`"].
