Importing a Graphic
You can add graphics to your notebook by importing them from another application. You can either copy and paste the graphic into your document or use the Import function.
To import a graphic using the menu:
1. Choose File
Import
Single File.
2. The File Browse dialog box appears. Specify the name and location of the graphic you wish to import.
3. Click OK. The file you specified is pasted into your notebook at the position of the cursor.
You can also import a batch of graphics in a single step by choosing File
Import
All of Specified Type. If you specify a single file and click OK, all files in that directory having the same suffix are imported into your document.

If you plan to import EPS graphics that were created in Adobe Illustrator, save them in Illustrator with version 8 compatibility. Later versions may fail to print.
Exporting a Graphic
A notebook graphic can be exported for use in another application in two different ways.
To save a graphic as a separate file:
1. Select the cell containing the graphic and choose File
Save Selection As.
2. The submenu lists several different graphic formats. Choose one of these formats.
3. This opens a dialog box asking you to specify a name for the file and the directory in which it should be stored.
Once you do this and close the dialog box, Publicon converts the graphic into the format you selected and saves it as a file.
To copy and paste a graphic:
1. Select the cell containing the graphic and choose Edit
Copy As.
2. A submenu appears that lists several graphic formats, such as Bitmap. Choose one of these formats.
3. The Clipboard now contains a copy of the graphic in the specified format. This can be pasted into another application.
To export graphics from one or more documents:
1. Choose File
Extract Cells.
2. In the dialog box that appears, click the appropriate radio buttons to specify the following.
the source document(s)
the format for saving the exported cells: GIF, TIFF, BMP, or EPS
the type of cells to export: graphics cells or typeset cells
3. Click OK to extract the cells and save them in the specified format.
Resizing a Graphic
To alter the size and proportions of a graphic:
1. Select the graphic by clicking it. This causes a box to appear around the graphic with markers on its corners and edges.
2. To change the size of the graphic without altering its aspect ratio (the ratio of length to width), click one of the bottom or right markers and drag it until the box changes to the required size.
3. To change the aspect ratio of the graphic, click one of the bottom or right markers and drag it, while pressing the shift key, changing the length or width as needed.
4. To crop a graphic, convert it to PostScript (Cell
Convert To
PostScript), then click one of the markers and drag it, while pressing the appropriate modifier key for your system (Windows:
; Macintosh:
; X:
). Then convert it back to Bitmap.

Animate to start the animation. The animation appears in the most visible cell of the selected graphics.
