Formatting Text

Lists

To create a numbered list:

1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the list.

2. Choose Window RightTriangle Templates and Variables RightTriangle Items to open the relevant section of the Typesetting palette.

3. Under the "Itemized Lists" subpalette of the palette, click 1. Item in the first row.

4. A numbered cell appears in the notebook. Enter the text for the first item. You can click to start a new paragraph level within the list item.

5. Click + in the same row to create the next item in the list. A new cell appears with the item number incremented by one. Enter the text for the next item in this cell.

6. Repeat step 5 for each additional item in the list.

The other two rows with 1. Item buttons also create numbered lists with different levels of indentation. You can use these buttons for creating sublists of the top-level list.

To create a bulleted list:

1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the list.

2. Choose Window RightTriangle Templates and Variables RightTriangle Items to open the relevant section of the Typesetting palette.

3. In the "Itemized Lists" subpalette, click FilledSmallCircle Item to create a bulleted list. Click SelectionPlaceholder if you want a list with filled squares as the bullets.

4. A bulleted cell appears in the notebook. Enter the text for the first item. You can use to start a new paragraph level within the list item.

5. Click + in the same row to create the next item in the list. Enter the text for the next item in this cell.

6. Repeat step 5 for each additional item in the list.

The other two rows with FilledSmallCircle Item buttons also create bulleted lists with different levels of indentation. You can use the buttons in these rows for creating sublists of the top-level list.
