Headers and Footers
To specify the facing of pages:
1. Choose File
Headers and Footers. This opens a dialog box.
2. Click the appropriate radio button under Primary Options. You can choose from three different settings.
• Left and right pages are equivalent.
• First page facing left.
• First page facing right.
In the first case, you can specify headers/footers for one type of page only. For the other two cases, you can specify separate headers/footers for left and right pages. The number of text boxes available for displaying headers/footers changes automatically to reflect this difference.
To control if headers/footers are printed on the first page:
1. Choose File
Headers and Footers. This opens a dialog box.
2. Click the appropriate radio button under Primary Options. You can choose from three different settings.
• True. Headers/footers are printed on the first page.
• False. Headers/footers are not printed on the first page.
• Inherited. Printing of headers/footers is controlled by the settings in the document's style sheet.
To specify headers/footers for a document:
1. Choose File
Headers and Footers. This opens a dialog box.
2. Click Page Headers and Page Footers to view a set of text boxes for specifying the headers and footers.
3. Enter the text of the headers and footers in the text boxes. You can specify separate headers and footers for left or right pages. In addition, for each left or right page, you can specify three different types of headers/footers: left-aligned, centered, and right-aligned.
4. To enter running headers or footers, click one of the three buttons, Section, Subsection, or Subsubsection.
5. When you have finished editing, click OK to close the dialog box and apply the changes to your notebook.
To insert a line below/above all headers/footers:
1. Choose File
Headers and Footers. This opens a dialog box.
2. Click the appropriate radio button just below the Page Headers or Page Footers tabs. You can choose from three different settings.
• True. A line is drawn.
• False. A line is not drawn.
• Inherited. Header/footer lines are drawn according to the settings in the style sheet.
