Introduction

Publicon includes a set of document palettes for creating documents in the style of specific journals. Each document palette has a source notebook and style sheet associated with it. The source notebook specifies the type of buttons that are relevant to the particular document format and their arrangement in the palette. The style sheet determines the appearance of documents created using the palette.

A custom palette, source notebook, and style sheet together make up the core elements of a custom module. Modules are structured directories that contain one or more document palettes and related files. The custom modules for all the built-in document palettes are located in the AddOns/Autoload directory in the Publicon layout. Add-on modules can also be located in the user's Publicon preferences directory.

Each custom module contains subdirectories called Documentation, PaletteSource, and FrontEnd. The PaletteSource subdirectory contains the source notebook for the document palette. The FrontEnd subdirectory has additional subdirectories called DocumentPalettes, Palettes, and StyleSheets, which contain the document palette, a stub file that launches the template file and palette, and module's style sheet, respectively. The following diagram shows the structure of the AMS_Journal custom module.

The LaTeX custom module is an exception in that it contains the files for not one but three document palettes, namely LaTeX_Article, LaTeX_Book, and LaTeX_Report.

The Help Browser cache must be updated when adding new documentation. The most convenient way to refresh all the Publicon caches is to hold down the ShiftKey key during startup.
