A2.3 Rotations Using Euler Angle (z, y, z) Notation

To run the examples in this section, run the initialization cells in Section A2.1 to create the Axes graphics. All Euler rotations are essentially around the z axis. The first two angles describe the direction of the object's z axis (in terms of a rotation about z followed by a rotation about the new y direction). The third angle describes a rotation about the z axis.

Euler angles can be useful when an object is created that spins about its z axis.

Rotate the object about the {0, 0, 1} or blue axis. There are two ways to do this.

In[19]:=

In[21]:=

Rotate the object about the object's (blue) z axis, which is also slowly moved toward the model's x axis.

In[23]:=

Rotate the object about the object's (blue) z axis, which is orientated along the model's x axis.
