is an integer which gives the current Wolfram Language kernel release number, and increases in successive releases.

  • Each released revision of the Wolfram Language kernel for any particular computer system is assigned a version number, followed by a release number.
  • The same source code may yield releases with different numbers on different computer systems.
  • In a typical full version number, such as 1.0.3, the last integer is the release number.
