UsingFrontEnd

UsingFrontEnd[expr]

evaluates expr, making use of a front end if necessary.

Details

  • UsingFrontEnd is primarily relevant for standalone kernels and other configurations where a front end cannot be assumed to be running.
  • UsingFrontEnd[expr] enables notebook functions such as NotebookWrite during the evaluation of expr.
  • UsingFrontEnd[expr] evaluates expr in the current Wolfram Language kernel, starting a front end if it is not already running.
  • UsingFrontEnd temporarily sets $Notebooks and $FrontEnd.
