Mathematica Import/Export Format

SCT (.sct)

Scitex CT format.
Raster image file format.
Used for pre-press imaging applications.
SCT is an acronym for Scitex Continuous Tone.
Binary format.
Stores images as RGB, CMYK, or grayscale bitmaps at a resolution of 8 bits per channel.
Does not support alpha channels.
Developed and maintained by HP Scitex.

Import and Export fully support the SCT format.

IMPORT AND EXPORT

Import["file.sct"] imports an SCT file, returning a graphics object.

Export["file.sct", expr] exports graphics or any other expression as an image to an SCT file.

Import["file.sct"] returns an expression of the form Graphics[Raster[data], opts], where data is an array of RGB color values.

Export["file.sct", expr] creates an SCT image with the same image size as the displayed form of .

Because SCT is a raster image format, all fonts are rasterized on export.

Import["file.sct", elem] imports the specified element from an SCT file.

Import["file.sct", {elem, sub_a, sub_b, ...}] imports a subelement.

Import["file.sct", {{elem₁, elem₂, ...}}] imports multiple elements.

The import format can be specified with Import["file", "SCT"] or Import["file", {"SCT", elem, ...}].

Export["file.sct", expr, elem] creates an SCT file by treating expr as specifying element elem.

Export["file.sct", {expr₁, expr₂, ...}, {{elem₁, elem₂, ...}}] treats each expr_i as specifying the corresponding elem_i.

Export["file.sct", expr, opt₁->val₁, ...] exports expr with the specified option elements taken to have the specified values.

Export["file.sct", {elem₁->expr₁, elem₂->expr₂, ...}, "Rules"] uses rules to specify the elements to be exported.

General Import elements:

Data representation elements:

	"GrayLevels"	array of normalized gray-level values

Import and Export by default use the "Graphics" element for SCT files.

Advanced Import elements:

	"BitDepth"	number of bits used to represent each color channel
	"ColorSpace"	color encoding used in the file
	"ImageResolution"	image resolution specified in the file
	"ImageSize"	raster dimensions
