Plotting Data

You can create data plots in a variety of formats. Use the Plot dialog box to create the plot and insert it into your document.

Publicon enables you to create plots of data and insert them into your document. You can create 2D and 3D plots in a variety of formats including bar charts, pie charts, contour plots, density plots, and surface plots.

To create a data plot:

1. Choose Insert RightTriangle Plot. The Plot Data dialog box appears on your screen.

2. Click Browse and use the file dialog box to choose a data file. Publicon supports data files in CSV format.

Click List, X-Y, or Table in the Plot Data dialog box to load sample data included with Publicon.

3. A plot of the data appears in the Plot dialog box. You can redraw the plot in a different format by clicking one of the formats displayed at the top of the dialog box, such as Bar, Pie, Contour, Density, or Surface.

4. Click Paste to insert the plot into your document at the cursor position.

To add labels to a plot:

1. Create the plot using the Plot dialog box.

2. Click Labels. A set of text boxes appears.

3. Enter the plot label and the x and y axes labels in the appropriate text fields.

4. Click At ends or Along axes, depending on where you want the axis labels to appear.

5. Click Update to redraw the plot.

You can customize the appearance of a plot by setting options associated with it. You can set options to control features such as:

FilledVerySmallSquare display of axes

FilledVerySmallSquare origin

FilledVerySmallSquare size

FilledVerySmallSquare background color

To set options in a plot:

1. Create the plot using the Plot dialog box.

2. Click the Options tab.

3. A set of options is displayed below the Options tab. Set the desired option as appropriate.

4. Click Update to redraw the plot with the new option settings.
