VarianceCI

VarianceCI[list]

gives a confidence interval for the population variance estimated from list.

Details and Options

  • To use VarianceCI, you first need to load the Hypothesis Testing Package using Needs["HypothesisTesting`"].
  • VarianceCI[list] gives a confidence interval {min, max} for the population variance estimated from list.
  • For confidence level α, min=var df/q(1+α)/2 and max=var df/q(1-α)/2 where var=Variance[list], df=Length[list]-1, and qi is the i^(th) quantile of a distribution with df degrees of freedom.
  • The following option can be given:
  • ConfidenceLevel 0.95probability associated with a confidence interval
