Information

This is a model of a two-way flow control valve with lumped volumes. When the pressure on port a is larger than on port b, the valve attempts to maintain a constant flow. When the pressure on port b is larger than on port a, the spool is kept at its resting position, which allows flow in the opposite direction.

Implementation

The model is an assembly consisting of a restriction and a pressure compensating valve. When the pressure on port a is larger than on port b, and the pressure drop over the restriction increases, the spool in the compensating valve closes. When the pressure on port b is larger than on port a, the spool is kept at its resting position, which allows flow in the opposite direction.
