Information

This is a model of a three-way flow control valve with lumped volumes. When the pressure on port a is larger than on port b, the valve attempts to maintain a constant flow by "bleeding" flow to port t. When the pressure on port b is larger than port a, the "bleed" flow to tank is blocked.

Implementation

The model is an assembly consisting of a restriction and a pressure compensating valve. When the pressure on port a is larger than on port b and the pressure drop over the restriction increases, the spool in the compensating valve opens. When the pressure on port b is larger than port a, the spool is kept at its resting position, which blocks the "bleed" flow to tank.
