UnityDimensions
is an option for UnitSimplify that specifies which UnitDimensions should be factored out.
Details
- The default value for UnityDimensions is {}.
- UnityDimensions specifications should be a list of base dimensions associated with a quantity or Automatic. Typical dimensions include:
-
"AngleUnit" units of angular measure such as "Radians" "SolidAngleUnit" units of solid angle such as "Steradians" "LengthUnit" units of length such as "Meters", "Feet", and "Miles" "MassUnit" units of mass such as "Kilograms" and "Pounds" "TimeUnit" units of time such as "Seconds", "Days", and "Years" "ElectricCurrentUnit" units of electric current such as "Amperes" "TemperatureUnit" units of temperature such as "Kelvins" and "Celsius" "LuminousIntensityUnit" units of luminous intensity such as "Candelas" "AmountUnit" units of substance amount such as "Moles" - A UnityDimensions specification of Automatic will factor out both "AngleUnit" and "SolidAngleUnit" dimensions.
- UnitSimplify will factor UnityDimensions specifications out of unit expressions by first reducing them to their "SIBase" units.
- UnityDimensions can also take counting unit dimensions, such as "PersonUnit".
Examples
open allclose allBasic Examples (3)
UnitSimplify will not automatically cancel out angle units like "AngularDegrees":
UnityDimensions can be used to factor out angular units:
Use UnityDimensions to factor "Radians" out of a unit comparison:
Use UnityDimensionsAutomatic to remove both "AngleUnit" and "SolidAngleUnit" dimensions:
Scope (3)
Use UnityDimensions to factor out counting units such as "People":
UnityDimensions can include any number of dimensions to factor out:
UnityDimensions can factor out units that are not explicitly given:
Possible Issues (1)
UnityDimensions specifications are factored out by first reducing constituent units to their "SIBase" form:
