Information

This example shows how a pilot-operated check valve can be used to automatically discharge an accumulator. When the pump is running, the high pressure from the pump keeps the pilot-operated check valve closed. When the pump is turned off, the pressure on the pilot port on the pilot-operated check valve drops. When this happens, the check valve opens and helps to discharge the accumulator.

Fig. 1 shows how the pump speed ramps up to a certain level, stays there, and then ramps down. Fig. 2 shows how the mass flow rate through the pilot-operated check valve peaks when the pump is turned off.
