$AllowDataUpdates
controls whether the Wolfram System is allowed to automatically update certain types of content.
Details
- Set $AllowDataUpdates to False to prevent the Wolfram System from automatically downloading updates to most paclets.
- Setting $AllowDataUpdates to False will not block the operation of direct calls to acquire or update paclets (PacletInstall and PacletInstallSubmit).
- Not all automatic paclet updates are prevented by setting $AllowDataUpdates to False.
- You can use $AllowDataUpdates to limit the Wolfram System's use of the internet by blocking "non-essential" paclet updates, or to temporarily "freeze" the system in a state that provides consistent results.
- The value of $AllowDataUpdates is preserved between sessions.
