SKF NU 306 ECP

By following this procedure, it is possible to parametrize around 200 SKF cylindrical roller bearings. This specific example is parameterized to model SKF NU 306 ECP.

Catalog Parameters

Catalog parameters are found in the bearing catalog from respective manufacturer, in this case the SKF Catalog [1]

Figure 1 shows the parameters for the NU 306 ECP bearing. These are the values that should be entered in the Catalog Parameters section of the Bearing Dimensions tab.

System Parameters

The system parameters, which are the clearences need to be set. In the same catalog [2], the radial clearance limits are listed.

The axial clearance in the NU 306 ECP has been set to 0, since there is no clearance between the outer ring and rollers. This is simply an implementation decision. However, it is recommended to set the radial clearance to -0.001 mm in order to make the simulations more robust. Without this setting, the simulations may generate numerous events as they try to determine whether or not contact is occurring.

 Please, note that if you have a system where the bearing-related vibrations are not desired, these values can be set as even larger negative values. This type of adjustment enables you to have preloaded bearings. The axial clearance was set to 0  for the NU 306 ECP, since its outer ring and rollers have no clearance in between.

Other Parameters

To set the parameters not in the catalog, the Other parameters, you need to look at the CAD file given on the SKF website.
